Finding Ways to Becoming Green as a Community
By implementing the advent of the Tesla PowerPack, the university could eliminate all FPL bills, and save nearly $3 million dollars a year once the system is set up. This is all beneficial to the school, and in addition, it is a completely solar powered method that aids the environment.
Implementing Tesla Powered Systems
As a commuter school, most of the students who attend FIU drive to school, releasing a lot of carbon into the atmosphere. To reduce this number, a better, more effective form of public transportation needs to be implemented such as a carpooling system for FIU or connecting FIU to the rest of Miami.
Finding Ways to More Efficient Transportation
PROJECTS
As a large university, FIU uses a substantial amount of water. That's why we are finding ways to reducing water usage and recycle it. Some tactics include using a hydroponics system to maintain a garden on campus which we can then use for fruits and vegetables in FIU's restaurants.
Water Recycling and Growing Gardens
ABOUT
We are a small group of FIU students who are trying to combat the harsh effects of global warming by making one of Miami's most influential universities greener than ever before. This includes steps to convserving water on campus, promoting recycling, using solar power throughout the university, and improving FIU's public transportation to decrease carbon emissions. We feel like we would make a big impact in our community and lead as an example to the rest of the world towards becoming an eco-concious society
